element14 announced today it is a proud sponsor of the “Great Minds on Innovation” webinar scheduled for Sept. 20 at Noon EST. Produced by the IET Inspec, the webinar will feature Dean Kamen, entrepreneur and inventor of the Segway® Personal Transporter.

Moderated by Jeff Reinke, editorial director, Product Design & Development, the webinar provides a forum for Kamen to share insights on his personal path to innovation, his visionary inventions, and FIRST, the organization he founded to inspire young people interested in science and technology. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit questions directly to Kamen to interact further with the legendary creator.

“Similar to the goals of the element14 community, Dean’s ongoing efforts have helped inspire creativity and foster the exchange of knowledge in today’s industry and technology cultures,” said Kevin Yapp, chief marketing officer, Premier Farnell. “We are delighted to sponsor his webinar.”

Kamen’s passion for technology is demonstrated through his numerous inventions and medical patents, which led to his election to the National Academy of Engineering in 1997 and his induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2005. He was also awarded the National Medal of Technology in 2000 from former President Clinton and the Global Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations in 2006.

Registration for Kamen’s free innovation webinar is open now. After the webinar airs on September 20, it will be hosted at element14.com.  Electronic enthusiasts are also invited to sign up at element14 to be notified of other upcoming technology training events and webinars from a range of technology leaders including, Cree, Texas Instruments, Honeywell, and more.
